Rebars

Subject: Rebars on Barque Hill Drive

Neighbors:

We have used rebars on Barque Hill Drive the last two winters to delineate the median for snowplows and other heavy equipment. We've wanted to protect the median as best we could, especially after the cleanup, pruning and planting in the spring and fall. Rebars were used since the ground is rocky, making it difficult to pound in less substantial markers.

A Barque Hill Drive resident has complained the rebars are a clear and present danger to pedestrians and cars alike. He cites his recent experience of tearing a new coat on a rebar while trying to escape an oncoming vehicle. Rather than asking the Association to consider the risk, he has written the Town of Norwell and provided pictures.

The Norwell Highway Department, after consultation with the Town's insurance carrier, has asked us to remove the rebars as a liability.

    We will do so.
