Re: Speed on the Barque Hill roads
Dear John:
For some time residents of the Barque Hill area have been concerned
about vehicle speed on the three Barque Hill roads (Barque Hill Drive,
Brigantine Circle and Till Rock Lane). This concern has been heightened by
the start of the school year with our children at various bus stops and a
reported accident last month at the corner of Till Rock Lane and
Brigantine Circle.
Our area has seen an increase in children who are often riding bikes,
walking from one house to another and playing in yards. Many of our
residents and neighbors from nearby streets enjoy walking in the Barque
Hill area. All of us have driveways, some of which are not clearly
sighted, which enter one of the Barque Hill roads. Speeding vehicles pose
an ominous danger in each of these instances.
We would like to make the following requests: 1. Three way STOP signs
should be placed at the junction of Brigantine Circle and Till Rock Lane.
This junction is particularly dangerous as vehicles coming down the hill
on Brigantine have gathered speed as they turn right or left at the dead
end. This area is also a school bus stop. 2. SPEED LIMIT and SLOW CHILDREN
signs should be placed on all three roads. We suggest 15 MPH limits for
Brigantine Circle and Till Rock Lane and 25 MPH for Barque Hill Drive.
If helpful, we would be happy to meet with your committee to review
this situation further.
Sincerely,
Thomas M. Poor, President
