Subject: Barque Hill
Neighbors:
A few items:
1) Tony McGreavy (19 Brigantine
Circle) was broken into last Friday. The police came, took some
fingerprints and felt the robbery may have been connected with two similar
break-ins in Hanover. They believe the perpetrator may by a young, blonde
male driving a four door dark sedan. Tony said he made two mistakes which
may have led the robber to believe he was on vacation: a) he didn't have
trash barrels out for the Friday morning collection and b) he left the
morning papers on his driveway. We should all be alert to any strangers or
suspicious looking characters in our neighborhood.
2) With the hot weather, we continue
to have a lot of activity at the rope swing in Shipyard Park. I go down
often to pick up trash, etc., and always ask the kids if any are members
of the Association. Usually the answer is no. I then reiterate that this
is private property but we are permitting them to be guests. As such,
there are 4 rules:
1. Do not leave any trash and pick up what's there (I have collected
shorts, shirts, sneakers, in addition to the usual cans, etc.)
2. Keep the noise to a minimum.
3. When leaving, car speed should be 10-15 MPH in keeping with a
neighborhood full of kids and people walking.
4. Don't get hurt.
I have been impressed with the kids'
politeness and willingness to help preserve their access to a great
recreation. Ironically, the only trouble reported to me was about a parent
who was a non-resident.
3) Picnic. The day is Saturday, Sept.
20 for the Barque Hill Picnic, from 2-6 PM. We'll have lots of activities
for the kids and the infamous egg toss for the adults this year. Food too.
